The existing provision for individuals with FASD is very limited. This is because FASD is still a much misunderstood and misdiagnosed condition. Those living with it and their parents/carers and families struggle to get the support they need to be as independent and successful in life as possible. FASD Awareness is proud to be a member of the FASD UK Alliance, which is a coalition of groups and individuals from across the UK who are united together for positive social change for those living with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to disrupt nearly every facet of society, it is rightly at the forefront of our public health professionals’ attention. In response to this emergency and the on-going social distancing regulations, we are now running online support meetings to continue to fulfil our mission of raising awareness of FASD and supporting those who are living with FASD and their parents and carers.
FASD Awareness Zoom support groups are held on the third Thursday of each month at 10.30am until 12.00pm. Our groups are friendly, relaxed and offer a safe and supportive place, where you can connect with others, share ideas and find out more about FASD. Parents and carers of individuals living with FASD (including undiagnosed and diagnosed) are all welcome.
All of our support meetings are:
• Completely confidential - what is said in the meeting, stays in the meeting
• Free to attend - you don't need to pay for anything
• Open access - you can attend for as many meetings as you need or want
• No referral required and no formal diagnosis
• Adults only - you need to be over 18 years of age to attend.
• All we ask is that you try to come on time and, as far as possible, stay for the whole meeting.
Join us by completing the online registration form, put the kettle on, log into Zoom and join the online social for a nice cuppa and a good natter.
