Otway “Recycled Wild Garden” Project

Sunlight Development Trust Limited

Gardens can be a welcome refuge for us and a much needed lifeline for our local wildlife. At Otway Garden, our aim is to create a tranquil space where we can grow and develop a wild garden paradise. Some may describe a wild garden as messy, there are no formal rose beds or neatly trimmed hedges here. Instead we have a large greenhouse for seasonal growing, vegetable patches and fruit trees. Plants grow semi-naturally helping to promote biodiversity. We breathe new life into un-wanted natural materials to create structures such as log piles, bird feeding stations and bird houses, bug boxes, bee hotels encouraging wild creatures in like hedgehogs, house sparrows and starlings – all of which are currently under threat. Our garden is all about creating a sustainable environment to encourage plants and wildlife to thrive.

If you are interested in gardening and supporting nature, we are looking for volunteers.
